This Is My Tucson
What does Tucson mean to you? I know that we have been focused at KVOI (particularly Wake Up Tucson) in exposing the problems in Tucson. These problems are many but could be distilled to our lack of planning and vision. But, even though we may be frustrated with our local government and political leaders there are many reasons why we love Tucson. So why do you love Tucson? I would really like some feedback on this. We have helped birth the idea of creating a positive media campaign to promote Tucson. This has now taken shape with the tagline “this is my Tucson”. We have some of the most talented creative people in Tucson including Rick Rose, Ken Godat, Howard Weiss, Jay Taylor, Bert Williams, Dana Cooper and headed by Rick Vaughn working on the creative for the “:this is my Tucson” campaign. The campaign will feature well known business, sports, health, entertainment, arts and professional leaders. They will tell their story about why they love Tucson. We would love to have input as to who you think should be tapped for this. We will probably have a dozen of these testimonials for “this is my Tucson”. All of the major TV, Radio and print media organizations have agreed to run this campaign for free to promote a positive image of Tucson. The people on the creative team are donating their time, talent and materials for this project. This is really an unprecedented undertaking. I believe that it is important that we keep the pressure on our elected officials and representative bodies to move our community forward in becoming a magnet for economic growth. This will happen as we learn to be competitive in attracting and retaining businesses in Tucson. But, we also need to tell the story about why we love Tucson. Please post your ideas to help us find the right stories to tell. What will our community be like in 5 years? My hope is that it will be a prosperous, clean, safe and inviting city ensconced in the natural beauty of our Sonoran desert. We have the desert now; we all need to work to make our hopes a reality.
